On a late October weekend, my friend, Jakob Walz and I ventured to the southern high cascades of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest. Known for it’s extensive trail network and very big days on the saddle, the Gifford Pinchot will test any rider’s fitness. Sitting just south of Mount Rainier and north of Mount St. Helen’s, the views at the top of Strawberry Ridge were something special with horizons littered with four of the Cascade Range’s tallest peaks, Mount Adams, Mount Hood, Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens.
